Title: Criminal Kind
 Author: Mary Anne Edwards
Series: Book 3 A Charlie McClung Mystery
 Publisher: CreateSpace Independant Publishing Platform
 Genre: Mystery

Marian and Charlie have finally made it to their honeymoon. A ten day cruise in the Caribbean, ten days filled with good food, drinks, dancing and exotic ports to explore. One night Charlie goes to see what the disturbance is in the room next door he finds an intoxicated man along side a dead woman. Suddenly their trip is overshadowed with the untimely death of the women in the neighbouring cabin. What was once thought of an accidental death turns into much more.

As Charlie and Marian juggle their honeymoon and the investigation along side the ships Security officer Mr. Watson, the ships doctor Dr. Nelson and his good friend Dr. Jack Jackson, a Medical examiner who is vacationing with his recently divorced sister Sophia. They find a tangled web of deceit, infidelity and revenge that reaches out from the past. Although they are not short on suspects that had means and opportunity the motive is what seems to be on shaky ground.

The story leads you through a maze not of who-done-it but of who would have. The murderer is quite clever and creative with his method of killing. I only mentioned this because I was impressed with the delivery in which the murder was carried out. It isn't hard to believe someone would try to kill in this way but how it was concocted in such a domestic way was diabolical.

As always I loved the chemistry between Marian and Charlie, they are the perfect couple. But this story has a rainbow of characters in it. Some you love and some you love to hate. There is Bella and Henry long time friends and crew on the ship who are intertwined in a love triangle. Jack and Sophia, the doting brother trying to watch out for his recently divorced sister that will stop at nothing to celebrate her new found freedom. And Peter the grieving (or maybe not) widow.

Jamie Quinn, two years after her mother has passed away is finally piecing her life together. She has returned to practising family law and has taken on a case with a disgruntled couple. She is actively searching for her father with the help of her private investigator pal Duke Broussard and best friend Grace and reconnecting with an old flame. Soon after some heated court proceedings Jamie's client's husband is found dead in his condo.

Jamie tries to help her client, Becca avoid any additional messy legal matters. In the course of this Jamie finds that Becca is not who she seems to be. That fact would usually not come to a surprise for Jamie considering her field of work. She decides to leave the case alone but it won't leave her alone. During this she has some hard decisions to make when it comes to finding and connecting with her long lost father. After so many years she doesn't know if he is alive, dead or after some searching that he may be imprisoned.

This is the second story of read in the series and I enjoy them very much. I like how the different plots are intertwined throughout the story. And how a love interest is introduced but doesn't overpower Jamie or the story itsself. Jamie is written so well she reminds me of a friend I have. She is a very honest and open character. It is refreshing. I like how we get to have a inside look of what she is thinking and feeling.

I imagine myself as one of Pepper Pomeroy,'s Perfect Proposals clients. Perfect Proposals is a business where Pepper organizes and sets up the perfect proposal for a soon to be engaged couple, Pepper tries to suit the perfect wedding proposal to the couple by their likes and personality. This second book in this series had me dreaming of my own wedding proposal, mine was special but paled in comparison to one of Pepper's Perfect Proposals.

Pepper's sister, Felicity is getting married and Felicity and Pepper and their mother are on the search for the perfect wedding dress. After visiting the fourth and final Bridal shop, Pepper with her mother and sister in toe walk in to a empty bridal shop. Pepper soon ventures though out the shop and finds the back door open to an alley and a dumpster. Pepper is shocked to discover the owner of the Bridal shop, Eva Sitting against the dumpster stabbed with a knife.

So shocked by the sight of another murder Pepper vows to help find who killed Eva and with the theft of valuable wedding dresses from the bridal shop. All the while Pepper's business is booming with many "Perfect Proposals" in the works and a budding new relationship with Gage. She needs to needs to watch her back, while on the search for the perfect wedding gown for her sister Pepper soon discovers that the killer is a lot closer than she thinks.

This was a very quick read, with a action packed story that hooked me in from the cover of  this book, it hooked me in so much that I  finished it in only a day, a first for me. That's how much this story hooked me in and that is owed to the talent of the writer, Nancy.J.Parra. A one of a kind mystery series with a wedding theme chalked with proposals that a girl can only dream of.It's easy to imagine yourself as one of Pepper's Perfect Proposals minus the murder. I loved the relationship between Detective Murphy and Pepper, one of the first times in a cozy mystery where a detective and ameteur sleuth seems to have a father-daughter relationship. A fun filled edge of your seat mystery with a almost perfect murder if not for Pepper of Perfect Proposals to save the day and find the killer.

When a argument ensues between Connie a life long knitter and employee at Mother Mimi's House of Lambspun and Andrea. Connie wants her husband back and she acuses Andrea of stealing him away.

Andrea is soon found dead at the bottom of her steep stairs at her ranch but with all the police and firefighters attention on the wildfires her death is put on the back burner. When Kelly, accountant and friend of Mother Mimi at House of Lambspun starts her own investigation when Connie is suspected of Andrea's murder, it's all like a soap opera playing out and a love triangle that turns deadly.

A touching and heartfelt edition to this series. This was a fictional story but based on a real true life wild fire. With all to real and genuine characters and you can't help but hope for the best for these close knit friends in the face of an uncertain future they are up against.  My only struggle was relating to the characters that I found I had nothing in common with any of them but my heart went out to Jayleen and to Andrea and to Kelly to finding the killer with her unrelentless sleuthing. Maggie Sefton sets the tone for this emotionally charged mystery for knitting lovers.

Book Review/Giveaway Privy to the Dead by Sheila Connolly

 Author: Sheila Connelly
Series: Book 6 A Museum Mystery
 Publisher: The Penguin Group
 Format: Paperback

Nell Pratt is president of the Pennsylvania Antiquarian Society, a new home owner and has a knack for getting herself mixed up in certain legal situations. Recently she has made good with bringing in a substantial amount of money to renovate the structure of the building The Society is located in. With this renovation will come new work and much needed storage spaces for their large amount of documents and historical artifacts. Most people working in The Society's building are worried about noise and dust and the misplacement of items.

But that all comes to a halt when a man is found dead in the street in front of their building. As the police start to ask questions, Marty is quick to act to save the face of The Society and hopes their is no connection between the death and the institution she works for. She soon finds out this is not the case. The man that died worked for the construction crew and that he stolen something from a unbeknown hole in the ground in the basement. Something they never knew they had. Along with Marty Terwilliger, a long time member and staple of The Society, and some of her staff they dive into their archives to find the links between what was stolen, what it meant and means, and the connection to this man's death.

I really liked the characters in the story. I liked Nell because even though she had the urges to go to her boyfriend with her side investigation to the murder she kept her self grounded and even though sometimes she slipped up she was determined to do it on her own. Loved Marty she's stubborn you can tell and very ethical. I feel the story really centered around these two women and it is nice to read about strong women instead of the damsel in distress.

The story was well put together and very detailed. I loved how it wasn't about the amateur sleuth constantly going to or trying to interfere with the police investigation. It was a great twist to see how a group of ordinary citizens would go about researching and trying to figure out a crime.

There is no shortage of unlocking the secrets to many mysteries that this book beholds. The characters are what make Ripped From the pages the dynamic mystery it was along with the entire Bibliophile Mystery Series. The the detailed history of the characters in this story although fictional make this book so interesting and captivating as each page is  turned.

The allure of the book and the printed page has always mesmerized bookbinder, Brooklyn Wainwright, it is her life's passion. It surely entices  all of her senses. Brooklyn and her handsome British boyfriend who was in charge of the security of the worlds most valuable art pieces who now owns a security company to do just that moves in next door temporarily to Brooklyn's parents who live on a commune California.

All the members are the commune are building a thriving community complete with a vineyard and a winery that Brooklyn's family are helping to run. There's antisipation in the air when there is to be a excavation of a storage cave to make room for a wine tasting area within the cave but when they start and break through they discover they have to break through a man made concrete wall.

While they let Brooklyn take a quick peak she discovers a dead body inside along with a treasure trove of various finds and with the mans possessions that they soon discovered was murdered was a first edition of Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne. Of coarse Brooklyn thinks the book can unlock the mystery  to the murdered man and the lost possessions  within the cave with the secret map found inside and with the connection to Guru Bob the leader of the commune Brooklyn wants to do her own digging to unlock a age old mystery.

Brooklyn's passion for books and the printed page holds no bounds and that is how I relate to her. We both have a passion for books. She is one of my favorite characters from a cozy mystery series for that reason alone that and the fact that is always up for unlocking mysteries, crime fighting and finding the killers before the police do. It also helps that there's a handsome British man named Derek at Brookyn's sideI love a British man and imaging how he would sound when he calls Brooklyn , love makes me weak in knees and imagining Gabriel does not hurt either.

Guru Bob's family history of his family fleeing France from the Nazi Invasion was sad but at the same time interesting and it drew me so much further into the story while Brooklyn was trying to find the key to the mystery. This mystery is perfect for the book lover and a treasure and history lover those were the reasons it was so great.

As a pet lover this is a favorite series of mine and if you are a pet lover it will be a favorite of yours too and even if you don't like animals but who could not love animals? You will still love this mystery. Collared for Murder is my favorite of this series so far. I loved the cat show theme. With a touch of romance, Collared for Murder was has endearing characters and lovable pets. This was a not to be put down until you finish kind of mystery. Fast paced, action filled never a dull moment. It has cuteness,  with a touch of sweetness. You will not be able to resist the four legged friends and Izzy's romantic pursuits. I love animals, being a owner of three cats myself I  can't help but love a series  featuring cats,I'm clawing at the bit for the next book in this charming series.

As a first time reader of this series I had no idea that I would get to know some charming, spunky and quite determined elderly women especially Beatrice. Trevor then vows to turn his life around but soon with secrets coming out among this Southern town of Dappled Hills,North Carolina. Then another man who was seen arguing with Daniel and spying on him at his wedding as also found murdered.Beatrice and her faithful sidekick and friend and fellow Village Quilter, Meadow make it their mission to stitch together the clues to all these mysteries and to along the way unlock the secrets of the residents on this charming Southern town.

Beatrice is the best thing since ameteur sleuth, Jessica Fletcher. A suspenseful mystery, perfect for quilters and lovers of quilts. These lovely Southern ladies were so endearing and made this book such a pleasure to read. Very fast paced and made me feel like I wanted to fast forward in time so I could also be a Village Quilter just so I can spend time in The Patchwork Cottage and solve murders along with Beatrice. I could envision myself being just like Miss Sissy when i'm older, something my husband should for sure fear she was one of my favorite characters. Find yourself a nice warm quilt to snuggle with while reading, it sure made me wish I had one.

The fair is in town and Baker and Business Owner of Bar None,Chase Oliver is featuring her delicious dessert bars at The Paul Bunyan Harvest Festival. Along for the ride is her chubby, treat loving escape artist of a cat, a Butterscotch Cat, named Quincy but when murder is the feature attraction Can Chase and Quincy save the day?

I love cozy mysteries about fairs, festivals and competitions and this one is one of my new favorites. Especially because I knew one of my favorite new fictional cats, Quincy was in it. Chase, with the urging of her assistant's granddaughter and Chase's friend,Julie, Chase aquires a booth at the Paul Bunyan Harvest festival displaying and selling her scrumptious dessert bars. Quincy has his own ideas when Chase brings him with her to the week long festival to stay in vetrainarian's clinic who is also a friend and love interest  to Chase, Mike Ramos.

Quincy manages to eat his way through most of Chase's inventory with Chase and assistant, Anna rushing to bake more to keep up. There are many contests and competitions taking part in the festival. One such competition is the Butter Sculpting Competition. When one of the competitors is discovered by Quincy when he ventures in there to pig out on some butter murdered with a sculpting dowel sticking out of his ear. Vetrainarian Mike is soon taken in to the custody of the police under suspicion of murder. With the theft of a diamond studded cat collar, a part of a kitty costume contest and another murder at the festival. Chase scrambles to find a connection and a deadly killer.

The perspective of Quincy was a delight to read, his thoughts on his surroundings and his strong will to escape just to aquire some delicious morsels from the festival vendors had me in stitches. Sweet treats, a fat cat and murder make this mystery a winner. Very entertaining and fast paced plot. Nothing beats a setting for a cozy mystery of a festival with not so friendly competitions where there's murder. Perfect for cat lovers, anyone who craves delicious desserts and a murder mystery. I can't wait to read and review the next in this charming series.

Book Review/Giveaway Purl up and die by Maggie Sefton

Author: Maggie Sefton
Series: Book 13 A Knitting Mystery
Publisher: Berkley
Source: Received for Review from Publisher
Format: Hardcover
Rating: Four Stars
Genre: Cozy Mystery

This was a story with deeply rooted friendships, and a close knit community of knitters. A little too many characters for my liking and sometimes hard to keep in order but still  a very enjoyable mystery. Life at the Lambspun Knitters Shop starts falling apart when "Big Barb"  as she is known she is a knitting teacher who's son becomes accused of murder....

Kelly Flynn is a accountant who has seemed to make her home office at the Lambspun Knitters in Fort Connor, Colorado. Life is good for everyone until knitting teacher, "Big Barb" life starts unraveling, She is a very over protective mother of her son, Tommy a doctor currently in his residency. A young woman who is a patient accuses him of assault and life for Barb takes a serious downturn, knitters at Lambspun become concerned for Barb when she is displaying strange behavior and serious depression when her son son becomes the main suspect when the woman was found murdered in her apartment.

Suspicions arise when this young woman, Laura Brewster also accused one of her professors of assault, being seen by another student. Kelly digs around to find out Laura had a knack for seeking revenge if she did not get what she wanted.Kelly is sure that Tommy could not be responsible for her murder. Being an accountant, with her love of numbers with her ability to solve puzzles and past murders, she's sure that she could stitch together the real clues as to who the killer could really be.

As a want to be knitter and for the seasoned knitter this is a perfect mystery.Descriptions of yarn and the fiber arts are beautifully stitched into the story even though I could not always understand the knitting lingo. Mother Mimi, owner of Lambspun Knitters and Burt, a retired police man are a lovely couple and are definitely  make Purl up and Die worth reading. A cast of characters that were likeable but sometimes hard to keep straight but still very charming. Twists and turns make this a cleverly plotted mystery for knitting lovers.
