I've always had a dream of going to Alaska, being a big fan of snow, winter and darkness,  Zoe and her fiance Zak and all her fun loving friends is what made me want to read Alaskan Alliance. I was ready once again to emerse myself into Zoe's world. Zoe and her fiance Zak venture off to Moosehead, Alaska to deliver a rescue dog to a rescue team that resides there.

The setting in Moosehead is picturesque and it made me feel like curling up in from of a fire with a tea while reading. There were no words to describe the warm feelings I felt. Zoe's friends, Ellie and Levi meanwhile are back in  their hometown of Ashton Falls recovering from a near fatal car accident caused by a hit and run driver. It angers Levi and he feels to blame for the accident and he is determined to find answers.

In Moosehead Zoe stumbles upon a dead body of a mysterious man staying at the inn they are staying. Torn between whats going on with her friends in Ashon Falls and helping to find a murderer in Moosehead Zoe is set on helping her best friends Ellie and Levi and her new friends she has made with the search and rescue team find answers, murderers and justice.

The search and ultimate rescue of a child had me on the edge of my seat having a young child myself, that was my favorite part of the story. The bravery and courage of Zoe trying to find justice for her old and new friends and the search and rescue team had me in tears. This series I'm happy to say has become one of my favorites. The cozy descriptions of Alaska and the snow also made this book a jewel to me and a new favorite cozy mystery. It really made me want to escape into the story to be there in Moosehead along side Zoe and Zak. They make a great team.

Mel Turner of Turner Construction is an experienced renovator of historical homes in the San Francisco area and one who can communicate with ghosts, oh, and a woman as well. After reluctantly taking on another project where ghosts may be present and a project that may be out of her league, the restoration of a Scottish castle.

She soon comes face to face with a hated building inspector, a charming motivational speaker, a very hungry woman, a Scottish man in a kilt, another with a sword and a woman with no past. And only two of those are ghosts. Mel must navigate her work duties, family, her own investigation into a murder and an attempted murder on the job site as well as trying to find out how to help the two ghosts trapped within the unfinished castle. While one ghost is searching for their room the other is protecting an unattainable love.

I loved Mel and her dog. She is a woman that is in control of her life even though I don't know if she is 100% sure of that. There is quite the cast of characters in the book. I like them all till the end. Even the killer. Even though I haven't read the previous in the series from the background given is perfect for you to able to understand the relationships between Mel and her friends and her past.

 It was a great story!

It's the perfect time of year to savor and dig in to Death with all the Trimmings as it is Christmas time in Key West. Hayley,  Key West's resident food critic for Key Zest Magazine is set to interview Edel Waugh, the chef/owner of a new restaurant, Bistro on the Bight. Edel is worried that someone is tampering with ingredients in her kitchen and it's sending Edel into a tailspin, with the appending opening of her restaurant and Edel knowing the  credibility of Hayley in helping solve past investigations Edel  asks her to help out.

Edel Waugh relocated to Key West to prove herself as a chef, open her restaurant and start a new life but when the restaurant is set on fire and a body is found in the charred wreckage Edel realizes that someone is out to get her and her restaurant. When Hayley discovers Edel is keeping secrets and she discovered who the arson victim is she is shocked but is still determined to find this killer and firestarter to save this fiery chefs reputation.

Chefs, food, restaurants and murder make for a perfect well crafted mystery. Food descriptions that jump right off the page. You can feel Hayley's love for her job as a food critic and her love of food. . My favorite part of the book would have to be when Hayley is dining with the New York Times food Critic, I wanted to eat all the food they were eating. Lucy does a great job at making you feel like you can taste the beautiful food she is describing as you are reading, that's what I love about the Key West Food Critic mysteries. I love reuniting with the characters, Hayley's family and friends. Hayley's passion for food, finding justice, and solving murders is what makes her one of my very favorite characters on the written page.

Book Review: Meow if it's Murder by T.C. LoTempio

It seems that crime reporting is in Nora Charles blood because she can't seem to get it out of her system. She moves back to her hometown of Cruz, California after her mother passes away to run Hot Bread, her mothers sandwich shop and leave Chicago and crime reporting behind. Soon a cat finds Nora and she names him, Nick. He has designs on being her affectionate and fun loving animal.

Along with running the sandwich shop, Nora writes for a local online magazine, Noir. Nora is determined to get her boss at Noir to approve of her writing an article on the death of socialite, Lola Grainger. He is reluctant because it was deemed a open and shut case but Nora suspects otherwise.

It's like fate that Nick previously belonged to a PI also named Nick and he disappeared while also investigating Lola's death. Nick the cat is beginning to show signs and clues that he also knows more about the case and works with Nora to try to help solve the case of the mysterious death of Lola Grainger.

I fell in love with Nick the cat, not only because he shares my husband and son's name so I had to pick up this book about a cat named Nick to see what he was all about but because he is a  smart and handsome fellow. Nick and Nora are a match made in heaven, one of the best cat sleuths since  Diesel from Miranda James' s Cat in the stacks mysteries. What I like about Nora is she is a no nonsense  type of gal and the fact that she is a crime writer had me wanting to pick up this book. A great cozy mystery  could not be complete with out food, running her mother's sandwich shop brought a great spin to the story  with me being a culinary mystery fan. I can't wait to go on another crime fighting adventure with Nick and  Nora in the next book.

Holly Miller is settling in fine at The Sugar Maple Inn in the picture perfect Wagtail Mountians. She is helping her "Oma" German for Grandmother out running the pet friendly hotel that not not only welcomes people but our four legged pets. There's a new reality TV show crew coming with dreams of developing a reality TV show called " Apparition Apprehenders" . They come just in time to help celebrate the "Howloween" festivities in Wagtail with activities revolving around Halloween.

The Apparition Apprehenders are a ghost team of several people that investigate paranormal phenomenon and Holly is working hard to make them feel welcome in Wagstail. The ghost hunters are investigating strange goings on at the Wagtail Springs Hotel. Holly is then shocked to discover along with her loyal and sweet companions her Jack Russell, Trixie and calico kitten, Twinkletoes
A woman, Mallory who claims to have written a book with one of the ghost hunters floating in the shallow water of the Wagtails Springs Hotel gazebo.

The crime scene is reminiscent to a spooky legend in Wagtail of a past murder. Holly is one hundred percent certain that Mallory's death is no accident and she will go to hell or high water to catch a killer before another beloved resident of the cozy, pet loving Wagtail becomes another victim.

The Ghost and Mrs. Mewer converted me to a paranormal cozy mystery lover. I'm not a big fan of ghosts, goblins or spirits, I could identify with Holly being a non believer but I was at the ready with the ghost hunters to discover the ghostly hauntings at the hotel.  .With the coziness and picturesque setting and Holly's constant companions of the four legged variety being a part of the story with Oma and all the characters made it feel like visiting old friends. Krista transports you into the world of her books and I am completely captivated. She makes her fictional towns spring to life that adds another cozy element and her charming characters that her books are never without.
